The course is suitable for wheelchair users, and there is a dedicated wheelchair start on the 1.2K course. Your child's assembly area will open 20 minutes before their start time - allow plenty of time to get there, as the area will be very busy on the day. Participants should make their way to the assembly area on Newcastle's Quayside - your child will need to show their number to gain access, and if you are also running you will need to be wearing the 'Accompanying Adult' bib. Junior runners will then do an out and back section towards the Redheugh Bridge, before re-joining the Mini route that heads along the Gateshead Quayside, past the Sage Gateshead and the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art. The event starts and finishes on the Newcastle side of the river, and all runners will start by crossing the Swing Bridge. The distance of the Mini Great North Run is 1.2km, while the Junior distance is 4km.
